What is ADIK?
"The Société Action pour le Développement du Kivu ''ADIK'' in acronym has its office in the territory of Kalehe in South Kivu, DR Congo. Within our company ADIK we supervise young entrepreneurs from Kalehe and Bukavu for technical advice in fish farming. Our mission is to promote human development through capital investments by young people and small agricultural producers." Refer to the ADIK Facebook page.
Update from Danny Magadju on July 4.
To remind all, we were able to provide emergency funding for his efforts with ADIK to improve conditions in the camps to reduce the risk for Ebola transmission.
"The Ebola situation in South Kivu province is gradually being brought under control, thanks to the efforts of ADIK and others. The population continues to observe preventive measures, particularly regular handwashing.
The decline in Ebola cases in South Kivu and Goma has enabled neighboring Rwanda to begin reopening its borders with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). This development has facilitated the resumption of trade between the people of Bukavu, Goma, and Rwanda, as well as the free movement of people, subject to certain conditions.
Activities aimed at preventing the spread of Ebola are ongoing in the camp for displaced persons. Awareness-raising posters and handwashing stations installed by ADIK remain operational in the camp, where we have conducted major public awareness campaigns. These efforts aim to maintain community vigilance and prevent any resurgence of the disease.
The rapid intervention of our friends former Peace Corps volunteers through ADIK has helped protect the Congolese population from the Ebola virus, with special attention paid to the most vulnerable groups, particularly orphans and the elderly, who were our primary focus.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all donors for their generosity, solidarity, and invaluable support in the fight against Ebola. Their assistance has enabled us to carry out effective prevention and awareness-raising activities that have benefited the most vulnerable communities.
